was often the subject of Kyonosuke's mischief and flattering attentions.

Living a shared dream, they eagerly awaited the day of oaths (marriage).

However, that dream would end.

Yae had cared for her ill father and her younger siblings for many years.
With her birth mother passed and so many expenses burdening the family, all depended on her.
Thus, when her higher born sister-in-law from her father's second marriage elected to sell
her as a live-in servant to another estate, she dutifully accepted.
