This game is very addictive with great graphics, awesome sound, and controls that are brilliant in their simplicity. The 2-button setup lets you shoot 6 different kinds of shots comfortably with a single button, tapping the other button once to flip the direction of your ship. The type of shot is determined by the direction of motion, holding vs tapping, and whether you're on the ground or in the air. I liked the fact that there was no jump button, you move freely and switch from ground to air just by moving, which keeps the focus on shooting and makes your ship fun to control.

This game is apparently a remake of a P*-6001 game from 2007 which was graphically upgraded and worked on at some point in the process by M2 for release within a Japan only Y*kuza-series companion app for the PS Vita. I'm not sure how this version compares, but it's highly enjoyable in any case, and very worthwhile. Thank you to the devs for making it available on PC!

This game really caught me by surprise with its overall look and feel. The game's soundtrack is an album called "Gone Square" by an artist named "Dong". The bosses are named after the tracks on the album, and together with the strange enemies and mono visuals the game forms a highly unique and enjoyable theme, served well by the minimal and philosophically oriented storyline. The gameplay is traditional shoot em up, and is very enjoyable with tight controls and fun bullet patterns. The main character has a shot button and a speed change button and that's it, so the gameplay is fairly basic, but I found the difficulty level and balance to be good. A worthwhile and fun game for shmup fans or fans of highly thematic and unique games.

STELLAVANITY - Prelude to the Destined Calamity has all the elements of a great bullet hell game with a few twists that make it stand out. Of the two characters available at the start (not sure if there are unlockable characters), each has type-C and type-S with type-C having a fast charging bullet clearing bomb, while type-S has a sword that spins in a circle and clears enemies and bullets. I find myself having much more success with type-C currently, as its bomb seems very overpowered compared to the sword. I am also still figuing out the game's "ethereal shift" function which can be switched to auto-guard or seemingly used both in an offensive an defensive fashion.

There are also bombs, which seem to take away from your ethereal shifts, I have played quite a bit and still not figured it out with complete certainty, mostly because I've been having too much fun blasting hordes of enemies and collecting the massive piles of coins in various colors that result. This doesn't bullet cancel on bosses though, which is good or it would be too easy. I think the difficulty range in the game will satisfy players of all levels with 5 or more levels to choose from.

Apart from the main game, which is played by selecting your path between levels, there are items which can be used in certain modes to add buffs, and progressive leveling of characters for certain modes. Overall, the game is really great and I would definitely recommend it if you are a fan of bullet hell type games.

***One more thing for English only speakers out there like me, I had trouble running the game initially, but it worked for me by running the application in the game's folder with the green hexagon next to it (and a name that was glitched text on my computer due to being in Japanese) and then running the game "sv122r" after that took its course.***

Fun vertical scrolling shooter by Akiragoya. I found this after playing their latest release Steel Vampire which I enjoy a lot. This game isn't the most extensive, but for the price I think there is more than enough replayability to make it worth it. Online scoreboard works, but you have to manually go to scores you want published and upload them. Buy the game, it needs more entries! One of the coolest features which is unlocked after beating the base mode is a super fast mode that runs at double FPS. Combined with the game's base mechanic of powerups being based on ship damage (more damage more powerup) with slow background healing, this wacky mode is highly enjoyable and funny to watch and play. Highly recommend!

I am late to finding out about this game apparently as it was released in 2015, but I'm so glad it was recommended to me. A very fun game overall that is visually appealing and challenging. The practice mode is a nice addition which makes working on 1cc runs easier. One of the best SHMUPs I've played recently and already one of my favorites, I think I will be playing it for a while. The overall package is really special top to bottom, and the game runs great.
