■Story
The dead are returning to life.
In fact, it's happened many times throughout thhis world's history.

The resurrected have decreased brain faculties and metabolism, resulting in still-rotting walking corpses with little ability to communicate.

in Japan, these beings are known as "Hihiru" or "Kusare", and the reverence for them has begun to dwindle in the modern era.

Their affliction is seen as a disease, something to be studied, and is known as "Scaffold Sickness".

And the early Taisho period,
one doctor, Shuuhei Katori, is determined to bring Japan's understanding of the disease up to par with the rest of the world.

Assisting him is a young researcher named Seikou Chikusa, along with a student named Takeoo Tenma.

Experience the battle against a bizarre illness from the perspective of these two intrepid assistants...

かつては崇め、時代とともに忌避するようになっていった。

――やがて「ひひる」は医療の対象とされ、疾病として「風爛症」と名付けられる。

そして大正初期。
医学博士・加鳥周平は風爛症をとりまく環境や制度が諸外国に比べ遅れていることを嘆き、
改善に向けての調査に取り組んでいた。

その調査に参加することとなった青年医師・千種正光。
本来は風爛症と関わるはずのなかった学生・天間武雄。

ふたりの視点を通して、「風爛症」と戦う人々の物語が描かれる――。
