A popular game played by many streamers and VTubers have finally received an English localisation. The translation is decent with a good attempt at translating the over the puns and wordplays from the original Japanese version.
Whilst I feel that some of the charm of the puns/wordplay is lost in transaltion due the nature of the differences in the languages and how they are used (wordplay with double meanings for example), the English version still managed to retain most of the nuances. At the very least, the basic idea can still be conveyed. Of course, if possible, I would still recommend the original Japanese version over the English version.
The game itself is full of surprises, twists and turns. You go into the game expecting it to be very comedic in it's usage of the "spoilers", but the creator of this game was very clever in the usage of said spoilers and always subvert the player's expectations. Not only that, there is actually a good "typical" RPG story condensed inside this game, all the while the "spoilers" serve to condition our expectations and keep us on our toes. It is no wonder this game is considered a "godly" game by the fans.
The combat is very simple; the key aspect of the game is it's concept, so combat is not given much emphasis which is a good thing in this case. Of course, for those wanting a more RPG combat elements, they did make a second game relatively recently which I hope will also get a translation.
The game is also free. So there is literally no reason not to try it out. You can also get second hand enjoyment from watching Vtbers play this game. Overall, highly recommended.
