The late Heian Period...
Shaga, a large bird monster living in the Kurama Mountains, is entrusted with guarding Ushiwakamaru, a boy she rescued on a whim.

But danger lurks in the shadows...

A beautiful dancer has been causing a stir up and down the main road.

A large crow monster living in the Kurama Mountains, north of Heian-kyo.
At 330 years old, her lifespan is much different to that of a human.
She is interested in humans, and agrees to accompany Ushiwakamaru on his journey as his guardian.
●Ushiwakamaru
The sole remaining legacy of his father, Minamoto no Yoshitomo, ever-hounded by the forces of the Heike.
He met and was charmed by SHaga on his journey to Oshu.
●Ayame
A crow monster.
Shaga's younger sister.
She idolizes her older sister, but has no interest in humans.
●Toyohime
Nobody knows when exactly she came to be by Lord Kiyomori's side.
The older sister of a pair of dancing girls.
Tales of their beauty spread quickly across the country.
●Yorihime
