Kurovadis truly is a magnificent game. Craving for some 'old school' gaming? This is definitely for you. Definitely don't let the "adult" tag spoil your thoughts about it either, if it bothers you, that is.

Kurovadis is a 2D platformer/side scroller game, nothing too complicated to understand and get used to if like me, you've played these types of games to death while growing up. You also have the possibility of leveling up through experience that is gained by defeating foes, allowing you to raise four distinct stats to up your chances as the game can be pretty challenging in certain areas, on top of unlocking special skills and different weapons through somewhat forced exploration, allowing you to reach further.

The "adult" part of the game is your death, put simply. Whenever you die, enemies will rush onto you and well.. do things, as well as give you a nice little image to watch thereafter.

Definitely a game I would highly recommend to anyone looking for some old school action, whether they want nudity or not in their games. That's just how fun the gameplay is.

For those who are familiar with it, Reverse Twinkle has a polarity system and plays like a top view shooter/platformer. The polarity system, while simple, adds a nice change as there are bullets you can't absorb no matter the color you choose.

For those who are unfamiliar with the polarity system in such games, here's a brief explanation: The bullets as well as your own character switches between two different colors, in this instance, red and white. When your character is white, it will shoot white bullets as well as absorb the white enemy bullets. While in one color, you can only take damage from the opposite color and in turn, you also deal more damage to enemies of the opposite color.

The art in Reverse Twinkle is surprisingly good, such I did not expect from this game as it seems to have fallen quite below the radar. The gameplay itself is decent. Your character will shoot in the direction you are facing, which requires a bit of a learning curve, but you can, with the press of a button, lock towards a certain direction, which also slows your movement down. At any time during play you can switch between two characters, each of which have different speed movement and different attack patterns, which definitely enhances gameplay as one can switch out depending on the current situation.

The game also supports co-op play. I haven't had a chance to actually try it out, but it still is a nice addition and the controls for both players can be customized.

Overall, it's a nice game that didn't seem to get much attention. I definitely recommend it if you don't mind the cute graphics (I know some people think there's too many out there) and are looking for something a bit different, all while remaining simplistic. I highly recommend using a gamepad for this one as well. I usually play solely with my keyboard, but a gamepad definitely helps in Reverse Twinkle. One thing to note, I have yet to be able to make the 'replay' function work.

In a world where there literally is a sea of shmups available to the fans, why would we pick up Another Apocalypse, especially since it seemed to have went under the radar? Because it is a simple game, has good music, nicely drawn scenes (albeit not animated) and overall is a satisfying game. And for those out there who may enjoy it, the main character is also cute.

The one drawback for some veterans is that the game doesn't come with much of scoring mechanic. You just shoot at enemies and avoid dying, grazing bullets as you may please and thus your score increases. I know that for many people, a hefty scoring mechanic is a must, but they won't find such a thing in AA. If you are, like me, someone who enjoys shmups purely for the fun of it and for the survival, then this guy should satisfy you and be a good addition to your library.

To top it off, physical copies are becoming hard to find, coupled with the low price offered here, it makes this an easy and worthy purchase.
