Product summary
西暦350年頃、インドの貴族を父に、亀茲（きじ=クチャ）国王の妹を母として生まれた訳経僧・鳩摩羅什（くまらじゅう=クマーラジーヴァ・羅什三蔵）の生涯を描く。彼は9歳の時、当時の仏教の中心地・罽賓（けいひん）国に留学し小乗経（部派仏教）を学ぶが、帰国の途中、法華経を授けられる。その後、401年に後秦国の姚興（ようこう）王に迎えられて長安に入り、亡くなるまでの10年ほどの間に、74部384巻にのぼる仏典を翻訳。その訳業は「絶後光前」と讃えられたという。
