AMAZINGLY Entertaining Game!

Okay, yes, the entire premise of this game is absolutely insane. But before you are even halfway done with your selected story arc, you will forget that the characters you're watching on the screen are pigeons.

There are hours and hours of replay value loaded into this game. Not only are there branches upon branches of story, but more options are unlocked at key decision points as you clear the game multiple times, opening the path for MORE endings!

Hatoful Boyfriend has hilarious and engaging dialogue. And somehow, simultaneously, a deeply engrossing, dark, and intense plot. The severity of the 'real' plot of the game is only made clearer as you play through the game multiple times and piece together parts you've learned from each branching storyline you complete.

In conclusion, the price for this level of entertainment is MORE than fair. This is a must-play for anyone with a sense of humor tilted toward the weird who also appreciate intense storytelling and memorable characters.

Carve it into your soul!

You're missing out if you haven't played this!

This game really packs a punch despite being quite short in length and employing avian characters.

The routes are all fairly straightforward (i.e. it's not very hard to get the good ending) and each character had something unique to bring to the table. I even warmed up to Okosan, who I didn't expect to like. I actually enjoyed the bonus stage much more than the otome part! This stage delves deeper into the overarching story with a more serious tone, and you get to see how all the characters are tied together by the threads of fate. I'll admit that I did shed a tear at a few scenes...

I have to point out the writing in this game. It's fantastic! It's absolutely hilarious and the anime references were sneaked in when appropriate.

From the premise to the writing, I don't think I'll be forgetting this one for a while.

Once you go bird, nothing's absurd.

When I picked up this game, it was out of sheer novelty. What's the harm in a bit of silly fluff, right?

Wrong. I thought I would be spending my time laughing my head off at a completely absurd spoof game. Instead I became completely wrapped up in the story so completely I could not help but take it seriously at all times.

The amount of depth in this game is incredible.
Every detail has a place and will eventually make sense if you really think about it. This has some of the most incredible and thorough writing I have come across in a dating-sim period. This, from a dating-sim... about birds.

I laughed, cried, smiled, raged, bawwed, and clutched my pillow in sheer-terror (this is not an exaggeration). A full range of emotions that I would be hard-pressed to squeeze out of a $60 video game... in a $5 one about birds!

You have no idea what you are in for. I will never look at birds in the same way again.

Most definitely the best $5 I have ever spent on a game. Most definitely worth much more than that.

I will absolutely be picking up the next one.
This game has turned me from a skeptic into a believer. I hope that the writer of this game continues to produce more quality works like this one.

this visual novel was like a storm story. because every route, has different story genre. Upon playing one route it was about friendship, and then other route suddenly became thriller story, ghost story, secret agent story, murder story, adventure story etc.
But yes, the jokes are funny and I had to apologize my roommate for laughing to hard (perhaps)
overall its a very sweet work worth trying
oh, and there's a bonus story that's very exciting!

I want to know who told me this was a funny game about dating birds, because it isn't! Well... not only. It's a heartwrenching story that will make you laugh and cry, and search for a 100% completion, even if you aren't the type who usually tries all routes in a dating sim. You'll be tempted to pursue everyone to reveal the truth about this highly addictive and replayable game. The best 420 yen I've ever spent!

A little unbelieavble (in a good & bad way)

You guys had no idea how hard I laughed during the introductory stage of the game. Seriously. But after awhile, you get used to the characters and your brain would somehow replace the birds with the human imagery of the characters, I don't how how, weird but true.

I couldn't expect a longer game of like 9 chapters like Hakuouki's Hijikata's route, but to me, this Otome game is worth a go. Wish it could be slightly longer, really, and show like their reunion or end story or epilogue, but sadly there wasn't. I can't complain, it was a decent game nonetheless.

The flow of the story is fairly simple, I won't spoil for you guys.

I was very very very skeptical about buying this game, and I still am wondering if I had somehow made the wrong choice, in buying this. The game's route is NOT SO STRAIGHTFORWARD, the branching is quite complicated to me, it ain't as clear cut as the choices you make really affects the others (except for elective classes), so a little bit shocked by that.

I am still laughing at some of the parts of the game, it is so hilarious, and a very mild typical teenage setting.

It's not like every other Otome game where every single guy falls and fawns over you like you're the only girl in the universe no, so it has that bonus, for a realistic set up, which is what I love, because you have to earn their attention.

Keep up the good work!
