About the System
Download the copy-controlled file from the browser as usual; a key to decode the file will be acquired during the download.
The first time you try to access any copy-controlled file, a decoding tool is installed using ActiveX.
Installation is required the first time only. It is designed to proceed automatically on its own.

When you open the copy-controlled file, the key you acquired during the download will unlock, execute and display the file.
Extraction may take a while for large-sized files.
You may be required to update your the video card drivers if images (in CG collection, for example) look blurred.
Operation When Using Anti-Virus Software
Sometimes, anti-virus software such as Norton Internet Security or avast! may falsely recognize the decoding tool as a virus and prevent you from downloading or browsing a file. If this is the case, please try downloading or browsing the file with your anti-virus software temporarily turned off, or manually set allowances for the decoding tool (Your local disk:\Windows\system32\PB4EBDEC.EXE).
Especially when you are using free anti-virus software such as avast!, AVG, ANTIVIR and COMODO, please make sure the decoding tool works on your computer prior to making a purchase.
About Adobe Reader
When browsing an item in PDF format, Adobe Reader must be installed in your PC. The tool is compatible with Adobe Reader X.
How It Works
The older software protection system has the following limitations to prevent unauthorized copies.
- The downloaded file is viewable only on the PC onto which you have downloaded and saved the file. When you wish to view the item on other computers, please redownload the file onto that computer to obtain the key.
- Also, capture and print functions of images are disabled. (Although printing or capturing images may be possible with a demo version, you cannot use these functions with the purchased version.)
For Guest Users
If you purchased a copy-controlled product as a guest, the downloaded file may no longer run if you do the following:
- Change/Replace your OS.
- Reformat the hard disk drive on which Windows is installed.
- Change/Replace your hard disk.
Installation and Validation of the Tool
After verifying all of the above, please install the necessary tools and confirm the operation of the tool.
If unsuccessful
Troubleshooting
ActiveX may not run properly if the security level of Internet Explorer is set to higher levels. In such cases, please reset your settings to the default level.
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Choose [ Internet Options ] from the [ Tools ] menu.
- Click [ Custom Level ] button in the [ Security ] tab.
- Set the security level to [ Medium ] and click on [ Reset ] button.
- Click the [ Advanced ] tab in the right-end of [ Internet Options ] and click on [ Reset...] button.
- Click on the [ OK ] button to close [ Internet Options ].
When downloading, if a yellow bar appears on the top of your browser, click on the bar and select [ Install ActiveX control ].
If you cannot download the file after installing ActiveX, please try the following solution:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Choose [ Internet Options ] from the [ Tools ] menu.
- Click [ Custom Level ] button in the [ Security ] tab.
- If you find [ Automatic prompting for ActiveX control ] on the list, please set to [ Enable ] then click OK.

If a Warning dialog ppops up which reads [ Are you sure you want to change the settings for this zone? ] click [ Yes ].
The above procedure should allow you to download the file; please remember to restore your settings for [ Automatic prompting for ActiveX control ] after the download is complete.
Also, if your operation system is Windows Vista/7, please run Internet Explorer as administrator.
- Click the [ Windows ] button on the lower left corner of the display.
- Click [ All Programs ].
- Right-click the Internet Explorer icon and choose [ Run as administrator ].
- If User Account Control prompts for confirmation, please select [ Continue ].
The above procedure should start Internet Explorer with administrator privileges. Please access DLsite.com with this new window and try downloading the file again.
If you continue to have difficulty after trying all of the above, please [ Contact Us ] with details of the error message and displayed screen.
