Sakura Saki is a romance/comedy manga occurring at a HighSchool. In the previous volume Saki told Yuuki that she liked him. However this causes some complications when a potential "rival" appears, Sakuranomiya Mai (whom seems to have yuri tendencies)

As with the previous volume, the art is passable though by no means the "strong point" of this manga. However the story and characters shine instead. This chapter is quite entertaining and although riddled with romance manga cliches, quite worth reading.

In all, Sakura Saki Volume 2 is a great addition to anyone's manga collection and a definitely a must buy for anyone who liked the 1st volume.

Fu-Otome Road 2

Fu-Otome Road by Tomihero is a 4-coma manga series about 2 Fujoushi girls ("Fuotome" as they prefer to be called). Anyways in volume 2 Haru and Hina go to the pool, however when it is revealed that she doesn't know how to swim the guy she likes, Hiro, teaches her.

The art in this series is really quite awesome (as with all of Tomihero's works). The characters all look great (especially Hina who's just adorable). The dialogue and situations are rather clever and funny. However the humor is a bit different from the first volume and doesn't focus quite as much on the fact that the girls are Fujoushi.

In all Fu-Otome Road is a worthy purchase for anyone looking to read a funny Doujin. A must buy for anyone who liked the first volume or any other of Tomihero's works.

4th volume of the Sakura-Gumi series.

Keywords the reviewer selected :

Volume 4 of Tomihero's Sakura-Gumi is another good entry into the series and does not disappoint. This time Aruru, Ruchan and the others are in Gym class

Per usual, the art is excellent and the characters all look great (same as with the other volumes). The dialogue, situations and characters are just as entertaining as always (I especially love Ruchan's total air-head personality). Really to put it simply everything that was good about the previous volumes is back and more or less the same in this one.

In all, Sakura-Gumi volume 4 is a great Doujin to pick up, especially if you liked the other previous volumes.

Pickup!A Cute Higschool Love Comedy

Sakura Saki Vol.1
MANAM
$0.96 / 108 JPY | 10pt (10% back)
A love comedy with events that unfold at a certain academy.
DoujinshiMangaJPEG
  • Release: May/09/2010

Keywords the reviewer selected :

MANAM's Sakura Saki is Doujin which is about a highschool freshman named Sakamoto Yuuki whom just entered highschool (which happens to be a former all girls' school and thus doesn't have many other male students). Other characters include his childhood friend Aoi and the class president Saki.

In any case the art in Sakura Saki is pretty decent, though far from mind blowing. I've certainly seen better but it's passable and doesn't detract from the enjoyment any. The story and whatnot seems to follow the usual cliches in other similar "highschool romance" stuff, though is still enjoyable to read. The character, although still just barely introduced at this point (only the first chapter), come off as pretty likable overall.

In all Sakura Saki is a pretty good Doujin manga that I'd definitely recommend.

Pickup!A short but funny M*doka Parody

Homu Mado
Merumeto no Yakata

To save her fried from her captors, magical girl Homu Homu goes to battle.
DoujinshiMangaJPEG
  • Release: Jan/26/2012

Keywords the reviewer selected :

HomuMado by Merumeto no Yakata is a short, but entertaining parody off Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. In it Homura is torn between her "mission" and staring at Madoka's panties.

The art is HomuMado is pretty decent. All the characters are recognizable. The dialogue is pretty clever and funny and the situation itself is pretty hilarious. The only issue with this is that it's only 4 pages.

Overall HomuMado is a worthy purchase if you're a fan of Madoka.

Pickup!Another entertaing entry to the Sakura-Gumi series

Sakura-Gumi Vol.3
TOMIHERO
$0.96 / 108 JPY | 10pt (10% back)
3rd episode of the series.
DoujinshiMangaPDF
  • Release: Nov/11/2009
  • DL: 2
  •

Keywords the reviewer selected :

Volume 3 (and all the other volumes for that matter) of Tomihero's Sakura-Gumi is a slice of life comedy manga about middle school students. In this volume Sumomo Sensei decides to just sleep and leaves the class to the (less than competent) Class President Ruchan.

Anyways everything from the last volumes pretty much applies to this one as well. The art is very good and all the characters are attractively drawn. The situations and dialogue are entertaining and a joy to read. The only problem with this volume is that it seems a bit shorter than the previous 2 (at only 8 pages for the actual comic portion). In the end though the short length doesn't hurt it too much.

Overall volume 3 of Sakura-Gumi is a pretty worthwhile purchase, especially if you liked the rest of the series.

Pickup! An entertaining four coma about girls obsessed with BL

Fu-Otome Road 1
TOMIHERO
$0.96 / 108 JPY | 10pt (10% back)
4-scene comics about the maidens' daily life in Ikebukuro full of yuri events.
DoujinshiMangaPDF
  • Release: Dec/06/2009
  • DL: 2
  •

Keywords the reviewer selected :

Tomihero's "Fuotome Road" is a doujin manga about a girl named Haru whom is rather obsessed with BL/yaoi. This 1st volume shows various situations including Haru and her sister Hina "stalk" two guys around Ikebukuro (in Tokyo) because they think they're a couple.

As with Tomihero's other series Sakura-Gumi, the art is quite good and characters are all drawn quite well. The dialogue and situations are quite clever and the manga as a whole was very fun and entertaining to read.

In all Fuotome Road is an entertaining parody of BL "fangirls" and I definitely recommend picking it up if you like a good comedic 4-coma or enjoyed Tomihero's other works.

A Decent Fantasy/Action Manga

Wonder World Story - Ash Stride 1-
Hideyoshi
$0.96 / 108 JPY | 10pt (10% back)
A story about Ash Stride who lives in Wonder World.
DoujinshiMangaJPEG
  • Release: Oct/16/2009
  • DL: 5
  •

Keywords the reviewer selected :

Hideyoshi's Wonder World Story is a manga which tells about a battle on Earth against the Forces of Chaos. The story follows the hero Ash Stride.

Featuring a very detailed amount of lore and background, Hideyoshi certainly put a lot of work into making sure the world in this manga was deep (4 pages alone are dedicated just to background information). However despite this I found the story lacking (though my insufficient Japanese skills may be to blame). The art is OK, I'd say at least sufficient.

Overall volume 1 of Wonder World Story is a pretty decent Doujin and a worthy purchase for anyone with good enough Japanese skills.

Somewhat Entertaining

My Cute Angels.
Nonbiriya

Two sensitive girls clash over fantastic female issues!?
DoujinshiMangaPDF
  • Release: Jan/13/2012
  • DL: 1
  •

Keywords the reviewer selected :

Nonbiriya's "Boku no Kawaii Tenshitachi" (My Cute Angels) is a short manga which basically just consists of 2 girls (Lora and Maria) arguing. I'm not entirely sure, but this Doujin may or may not be related to the Yukyu Gens*kyoku video game series (I'm pretty sure one of the minor characters in this is from it).

To start the art is quite good. The character designs are quite good and cute. As for the story, it's not much (simply an argument as I said before). Regardless of this lack of story though, the dialogue and the course the epic argument takes is quite entertaining. However it's not THAT funny and thus I can only call it decent at best.

Overall Boku no Kawaii Tenshitachi is a decent doujin and a good entertainment for a few minutes.

Pickup!A pretty good continuation

Sakura-Gumi Vol.2
TOMIHERO
$0.96 / 108 JPY | 10pt (10% back)
A slow hilarious comic about a life in junior high-school.
DoujinshiMangaPDF
  • Release: Nov/08/2009
  • DL: 1
  •

Keywords the reviewer selected :

Tomihero's Sakuragumi is a slice of life doujin manga about Middle School Students. Volume 2 continues with more of the same stuff from volume 1 and also introduces some new characters including Yamada Sensei (whom is depressed she didn't get the new Dragon Qu*st).

Most of the stuff that was good about the 1st volume is back in the second. The art is very good, the characters are endearing and the dialogue is clever and entertaining. From Aruru's "Tsundere" personality to Yuuta's complete lack of masculinity; you'll definitely be very engaged by the great characters.
The only real problem I found with this is that it wasn't quite as entertaining as the first volume. Nonetheless that doesn't mean it was bad; just not as good as its excellent predecessor. Either way I loved reading this though.

In conclusion I'd recommend the Sakura-Gumi series to anyone whose looking for a fun and easy to read Slice of Life manga.
