Pick Up !Castlevania parody

This is most certainly a fun tribute to the Castlevania series, the music is good and the stages can be challenging with older styled controls. Being able to use stage codes to return to levels is very cool, and nostalgic. Most of the adult scenes revolve around the pickups you find in the levels, but all are well done in sprite format. Layout of the game is also well done and easy to understand, so everyone should be able to enjoy the game.

A fundamentally fun but difficult game

The presentation is the best part of Succubus Hunter as it does a very good job at emulating the greenish Game Boy graphics. The music and the English translation are great too.

If you've played the C*stlevania games before then playing this will be like putting on an old but familiar pair of shoes. Even the stairs, the bane of many C*stlevania players, return to drive you bonkers once again. The enemies are quite strong and sometimes the game gets frustrating. If you rush, you WILL die, and you will die a lot so be prepared to write and use the passwords that the game gives you when you get a game over.

There's some replayability because there's two different characters to play through with differing playstyles. The CGs you collect for each character is different too. However, while the CGs you collect when playing through the stages is an event with text, viewing the same event in the Gallery afterwards just gives you the image without text. I can't think of any good reason why the game would do this and to me it's a big flaw.

Recommended if you're looking for a decent retro platformer, if you can overcome the difficulty.

If you're a fan of old-school C*stlevania AND excessive nudity, creator Libra Heart has... well, quite a few things for you, actually. Check their page out - "Castle of Succubus" is modelled on NES-era C*stlevania, I'm not 100% sure what just plain "Succubus" is modeled on, if anything, but it's an excellent throwback to 8-bit gaming in general. "Tower of Succubus" is a different beast, modeled on top-down A-RPGs but still more than worth your time.

And then there's this - an excellent homage to C*stlevania and the G*me Boy, with an authentic look that demonstrates just how much can be achieved with four shades of green. Highly recommended.

Actually pretty fun

This game is surprisingly fun for anyone who enjoyed the original castlevania game. The bosses are very hard and the game has good core gameplay that gives you a classic gameboy/ nes feel. The music is nice and varied by levels but honestly we're all here for the H rating of the game and that holds up. While not as great as the previous succubus games the artwork is still nice enough to want to collect and certainly merits the price tag.
