Review on version 1.34, just past the 3rd stage.

Lethal Operation Rugitta is a sidescrolling shooter with somewhat RPG bent. Characters have levels which governs damage dealt and received, so this is a bullet hell game for people who can't play them like bullet hell games are supposed to be played. (ie. avoiding screenfuls of bullets)
Simply put, grind enough and any stage will become easy eventually. And almost all stages can be replayed indefinitely.

And this game does have replayability. Stages have achievements, whether it is complete in a set time, kill a certain number of enemies, or true to bullet hell games, not get hit. This rewards coming back to earlier stages for completion's sake, and certain stages' achievements simply cannot be completed in a single run.

Furthermore, attacks of the characters can be customized in RPG equipment style. The variety of different mechanics, from lock on, melee attacks, homing and lasers and even summoning helpers, with a combination of attributes like break or dash, add a very welcome variety. Equipping characters with various weapons actually plays and feels different.

Story-wise, it is a light comedy despite the save the world mission the main character is on. While some might find the art style of the characters amateurish, the clean lines of the characters add to their simple charm. Rugitta's expressions in particular are endearing in her mischievousness, exasperation and honest happiness.

Interesting characters and a bright comedic tone will at times bring smiles, although not quite laugh out loud or cutting edge wittiness. And while the story doesn't treat itself seriously, the combination of light-hearted comedy and a wacky humor make it a strong offering.

Overall, Lethal Operation Rugitta is a polished game that makes others pale in comparison. An easy recommendation.

While this appears to be a standard female-lead ecchi-on-battle-loss RPG game, the cookie cutter summary fails to highlight the surprisingly good points.

The battle system is well balanced, with back and forth trades that are tense enough to make enemies threatening. All enemies, including bosses, are susceptible to status effects and this plays a huge role in ensuring victory; it really adds depth to what would normally end up as taking turns to attack or defend/heal.
Advancement between areas are smooth, without much need to grind in previous areas. Furthermore, the balance is set such that consumable items take a central role, Sona cannot survive battles without magic and mp is only recovered from items. A host of items that give initial battle buffs also give huge advantages. Rather than hoard items for use in emergencies, consumable items form part of the resource management that makes Sonabia's dungeons feel more dynamic than X random encounters until boss area.

The story is also deeper and more developed than one would expect from essentially a H-game. The characterization is especially surprising, with well-explored characters and inner motivations that make them come alive.
The plot can't be written about without spoilers but that alone tells that there is something to spoil in the first place! And there's a lot of it.

All in all, Sonabia is a hidden gem of a game that pleasantly surprised me for its cost and outward appearance. This game can stand on its own, it doesn't need the ecchi to be attractive.

One generally doesn't expect anything other than H from this sort of title and yes, H is present by the bucketload (although a perfect run might be possible?).

But this title conceals a deeper story of loss and hope, revealed in scraps and snatches as you progress through the events. Story objectives are interspersed with lighter and more mundane objectives for a change of pace.
Yuzuriha's scenes with a certain monster might be further hints as to the nature of her past? The mystery could span more than just the presented story.

Unusual, interesting, and a surprise. Would recommend.

It's EGS again!

Well, Okkotos is a simple enough game but is really fun to play. Archer girl is hard but cute enough to make you want to really master how to get past those superfast ducks!

Shield girl is easier to play and I'm sure she makes a good partner for the archer in 2P.

Also take a look at Recettear, another game I have lavished much hours on.

*Crosses fingers for Territoire*
