I want to start this review by saying that I cannot speak to the sexual components of this game. I simply cannot, because I have not experienced them. This game created a character, introduced me to this character, let me develop affection for her, to such an extent that I could not bring myself to do lewd things with her.

This is an odd thing to say in the review of a rather purpose-made H game, but it's a testament to the masterful (albeit simple) character writing.

As Sylvie's de facto foster father I felt an obligation to her and simply could not betray that trust, no matter how much she wanted to. I wanted to protect her and give her a bright and wonderful future, devoid of fear or suffering. I wanted to never stop patting her head. To pat her into a brighter, loving future.

I have never before and will probably never again see an H-game that makes me so emotionally attached to a character that I feel I have to refuse her sexual advances. Five stars. I cried.

Keywords the reviewer selected :

This game is generally quite good, on the whole a solid platforming flash title with a wide variety of quality CG thrown in. Hanakanmuri Circle is a cute platformer with a darker underside. It has this in common with the first title, Hanakanmuri, though there are several key changes. Expect guro and ra*e.

Gameplay: 8/10
The platforming is generally solid, it feels too easy at times. The larger jumps are offset by a wide variety of new items, more than its predecessor. Still, the environments are good, the jumps can still be tricky, and several areas pose unique challenges.
Art: 8/10
The normal art in this game is quite well-done. The environments and enemies look good, and the varying degrees of damage to the player sprite are all detailed. The CG art is generally quite good too, which make the occasional bad ones seem almost amateurish. CG can be unlocked by different kinds of deaths, and the variety is certainly impressive. If you are into guro, this is good news for you. CG is better quality than the original's too, though there's much more ra*e.
Playability: 7/10
On the whole, it works fairly well, though there are some bizarre glitches to be found. The adjustable difficulty also makes the game very accessible for those players who seek a reduced challenge. In this mode, however, dying to access the CG scenes becomes tedious due to the sheer volume of health. Finally, the game is easy to pick up even without Japanese fluency as gameplay is largely simple. The story is impossible to follow without fluency, however.
On the whole, Hanakanmuri Circle is rather good, but whether you can justify the price for a homemade guro platformer generally depends on how eager you are to see Fia die violently/get ra*ed.
