Aya in the Cage is part of Bad Companies “X in the Cage,” a series of voice dubbed flash animations featuring attractive young women beset by naughty tentacles. Aya would seem to be one of the earliest of the series and it shows. In terms of artwork, Aya is a mixed bag. Bad Company does monster and tentacle hentai better than anyone, but this is not their best work. While the character design on Aya is attractive, the artwork of her is inconsistent in terms of measurements and often very amateurish looking in her hands and limbs.

The monster designs are among the least interesting Bad Company has made. Everything is brown and white and while you wouldn’t think that would matter, after a point you do find yourself wishing for some other color.

Animation in Aya is poor. Unlike many of the later ‘Cage’ animations, which are very fluid and well realized loop animations, here everything is slow and choppy. Rather than moving smoothly from one frame to the next, they instead jerk and leave an unattractive ‘blurring’ effect over everything.

The voice acting is largely good, with the exception of the cyborg doctor, whose voice is annoying and ear grating (the sheer amount of time devoted to him is also detrimental). Aya herself is well done. Even in their early works, Bad Company seems to have a knack for getting good performances out off their voice actresses.

All in all, Aya is easily the worst of the Cage series. While not without it’s merits, it lacks the fluid animation, improved artwork, and impressive monster designs of their later works. I’d recommend it if you’re out to buy the entire series, but not as a casual purchase nor as your first purchase of a Bad Company product.
