Interview: Nok'Tus (January 2018)

Interview: Nok'Tus
This month our interview features the cricle Nok'Tus who creates "Stone Sorceress"!! We hope you enjoy the read!

1. Thank you so much for this interview! To start things off, could you please introduce yourself to the DLsite.com users?

My pen name dezmondel, a name that now more accurately represents a group of creative artists then of one individual.

2. How did you come up with your Circle's name" Nok'Tus"?

It was a unique name that had no matches on Google. The apostrophe dividing it was inspired by Sara's pet demon, Nyb'ras.

3.Since July 2014, you have been a Circle of DLsite.com and released two products on the site. Prior to this, were you involved as a contributor to other products? Please let us know about your carrier as an animator.

My studies of 3D animation started at the turn of the century, and became a source of income around 2012. The carrier of an animator can be loads of fun sometimes--it is more enjoyable to pose naked girls all day instead of punching numbers. And there is nothing hentai about it, it's just easier to animate characters without their clothes on.

4. What led to becoming a professional animation creator? Was there something that specifically triggered your desire to begin creating animation?

Becoming an animator can probably be attributed to a deep seated love for animation, especially realistic 3D characters. And what better way to sharpen these specific skill, then with animations involving lots of nudity and rhythmic movement. Nude figure drawing for animators... should be a requirement for anyone serious about character animation.

5. Why did you select DLsite.com to market your product?

It is one of the largest market places in the world for independent productions, and minimalistic censorship.

6. While DLsite.com is popular all around the world, we are always looking for feedback to make it better; do you have any suggestions or recommendations to improve our site?

Have you considered crypto currency?

7.Have you ever purchased products from DLsite.com? If so, who is your favorite artist/creator and what are your favorite products?

A DLsite.com artist that inspires would hands down be Umemaro-san. His work is truly masterful and inspiring. Gambate Umemaro-san!

8. The illustration on your products is very epic and beautiful. How do you view the characteristic of your own Circle,"Nok'Tus"?

Thank you for your kind words.
From the very beginning, Nok'Tus has set out to create a quality product that could be enjoyed for its artistry while being entertaining at the same time. We hope that we have hit our mark.

9. How many people were involved in the creation of your products? Would you please tell us a little bit about your team?

The Stone Sorceress series has been collaborated on directly by 20 artists (voice actors included), and countless other vendors who's props and assets were used in the production.
Nok'Tus is an all-star team. Everyone involved brought to the table not only their best work, but they delivered on time as well. With respect to exceptions, the team works well together.

10. What kinds of impressions do you have of Japan?

Japan is very fascinating! It is a society which appreciates beauty in all things.
The overall attention to detail, from wrapping an obento box to the master pieces of Miyazaky-san, is seconded by none.

11. Do you watch Japanese animations or play Japanese games? What kinds of impressions do you have of Japanese pop-culture?

Japanese animation is world famous. Any self respecting animator should know even in his dreams who Akira is. Japanese pop-culture seems like a Brazilian mid-summer carnival--fun loving, innocent, and lively.

12. From where do you draw your greatest inspiration to create your products?

Most likely from the depths of the universal-subconscious where an infinite amount of impressions and experiences are stored.

13. What is the most important consideration when you are developing your products? What element is the most important to you?

Production speed was/could be the most important consideration, with quality in second place.
And the most important element would have to be the story, and its many arcs.

14. What tools or software do you use when you are creating your products?

In no particular order: Poser, Cinema 4D, Maya, RealFlow, After Effects, Photoshop, Soundbooth, Audacity, and Format Factory.

15. How do you enjoy spending your time when you are not working? Do you have any hobbies or special interests?

Far away from the computer. The hobby of an artist is, or at least it should be, to figure out the "next step".

16. Many fans are enjoying your animations and they are curious what you have in the works for your next project. Can you provide a preview of what you are working on now for future release? Also, please let us know your goals for your future.

Currently, the production priority it to translate and prepare the remaining 8 episodes of Stone Sorceress for the Japanese audience. Beyond that only time will tell which way the winds will blow.

17. You have been so very successful in this field. Do you have any advice for new developers to help inspire them?

Follow your heart or follow your instincts. But above all, never forget that your body is your primary tool... take good care of it, and in return it will take good care of you!

18. Any message for your fans?

On behalf of the Nok'Tus team: DOMO ARIGATO for your support!

With luv,
dezmondel
